TCI Post Cabinet Statement 10 August 2018
His Excellency the Governor, Dr John Freeman, chaired the 17th meeting of Cabinet on Friday, 10 August 2018, at the Hon. Hilly Ewing Building on Providenciales.
All Ministers were present except the Hon. Premier and the Hon. Minister of Health, Agriculture, Sports and Human Services.
At this meeting Cabinet:

approved a MSME concession order for the company Shabay’s Seafood for the development of a fish processing plant on South Caicos
-
approved the appointment of Mr Keno Forbes to the TCI Community College Board of Governors and to serve as Chairman of the Board for the year 2018/19
-
noted the recommendations made by the TCI Scholarships Committee for the award of international scholarships for the year 2018/19
-
granted approval for the ratification by TCIG of the Revised Agreement establishing the Caribbean Examinations Council
-
advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the Children (Care and Protection) (Amendment) Bill 2018 for forwarding to the House of Assembly for approval
-
approved the TCI Integrated Vector Management Policy/Plan to improve vector-borne disease control in TCI. Cabinet approved a phased approach to implementation of the Policy/Plan subject to the availability of funds

approved the InterHealth Canada (IHC) budget for clinical services for 2018/19
-
noted an information paper from the Ministry of Health, Agriculture, Sports and Human Services up-dating Cabinet on discussions between TCIG and InterHealth Canada (IHC) on the IHC contract in TCI
-
advised His Excellency the Governor to approve issuing a land surveying licence to Mr Franklyn Norton to practice as an authorised land surveyor in TCI in accordance with Section 4 of the Land Survey Ordinance

authorised the Ministry of Health to settle, on an exceptional and equitable relief basis only, the claims of licensed vendors whose claims have been verified by the Public and Environmental Health Department for services provided to the Ministry at the time of the 2017 hurricanes

approved the extension of the lease of His Excellency the Governor’s official residence in Providenciales for a period of one year with an option to renew

advised His Excellency the Governor to authorise TCIG to negotiate a lease agreement for the temporary accommodation of four departments of the TCIG Lands Division in the Windmill Plaza Building on Grand Turk

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the grant of a long-term lease for 25 years, with an option to renew, to Mr Navance Handfield for the development of a villa hotel and multi-complex centre over Crown Land Parcel 50500/90 on North Caicos

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the grant of a 99-year lease to Caicos Resort Ltd over a portion of Land Parcel 60000/661 and 60000/235 on Providenciales for the purpose of a resort expansion

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the issuing of a public tender notice for the lease of Crown Land Parcel 60804/140 on Providenciales in accordance with Section 34 of the Crown Land Ordinance 2012

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the issuing of a public tender notice for the lease of Crown Land Parcel 60603/17 on Providenciales in accordance with Section 34 of the Crown Land Ordinance 2012

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the issuing of a public tender notice for the lease of Crown Land Parcel 10506/85 on Grand Turk in accordance with Section 34 of the Crown Land Ordinance 2012

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the grant of a long-term lease to Fortis TCI Ltd over Crown Land Parcels 20313/22, 20313/23 and 20313/24 on South Caicos

advised His Excellency the Governor to approve the grant of a 2-year licence, with an option to renew, to Island Trams Ltd to operate a restaurant and bar on Crown Land Parcel 10307/22 on Grand Turk
-
noted an information paper from the Ministry of Health, Agriculture, Sports and Human Services on the two solid waste disposal sites in Providenciales and Grand Turk
-
received an up-date by the Hon. Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning on the work of the Water Undertaking Unit to improve the water supply on Grand Turk, South Caicos and Salt Cay
-
was informed by the Hon. Minister of Home Affairs, Transportation and Communication of progress to extend coverage of Radio Turks and Caicos to Providenciales.
