This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

What is the Bilateral Programme Budget (BPB)?

BPB is the one of the channels through which the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) supports small, targeted projects that support transformative change.

During FY2014-2015, the BPB supported 4 projects in Cairo and Alexandria.

  • Introducing university students to the works of the UK’s House of Parliament through the participation in a simulation model;

  • Training local and national newspapers in in-depth environmental reporting;

  • Building the capacities of youth to be future leaders and key players in the development of their local communities;

  • Empowering women economically through training on quality control and marketing of handmade products.

For FY2015-2016, the Embassy is interested in supporting proposals that would raise the profile of dealing with community based issues including:

  • Environment,

  • Leadership,

  • Engagement and empowerment.

Proposals put forward should be able to establish a clear and identifiable link between the activities planned and the expected results. If you have any inquiries or are interested in submitting a proposal; please read the Guidance (PDF, 342 KB, 2 pages) then complete the attached BPB Project Concept Bid Form (PDF, 213 KB, 3 pages) and email it to mona.beckzada@fco.gov.uk latest by March 1st 2015. Only Project concept bid forms that are approved will be asked to complete a full bidding form.
