The Embassy participates in the Christmas Charity Bazaar
The 19th annual charity bazaar will take place on December 1st at Inter Expo Center.
As per tradition, this year the British Embassy will again participate in the Christmas Charity Bazaar. The Embassy will join the event with its own stand, which will offer traditional British Christmas foods, handmade items and treats, books and music.
This bazaar will take place on 1st December, Sunday, at Inter Expo Center at 10:30 am. It aims to surpass the success of the 2012 bazaar, which was visited by 8 000 people and raised 325 000 leva, making it the most successful year to date.
Jonathan Allen, British Ambassdaor to Bulgaria, said:
It is a great pleasure for the Embassy, alongside the British community and business, to take part in the Christmas Charity Bazaar, as we have done for a number of years.
The bazaar is the annual culmination of the help we provide to causes of the International Women’s Club of Sofia, all of which go to Bulgarians in need. This year our supporting efforts ranged from regular monthly bake sales at the Embassy to a tea and cake stall at the Open Day at my residence to quiz nights with Brit expats, among others.
I am particularly happy to see the willingness of my colleagues to dedicate from their free time to help the most vulnerable members of the society. It is really important that we all stand together behind causes bringing good in the lives of those in need.
So far, we have raised over 6 500 leva. I hope to see you all on 1st December to raise that figure higher and make this year’s bazaar success second to none.
Entrance to the Christmas charity bazaar costs 3 BGN. Tickets can be purchased from Art Point of Sofia, Mall of Sofia, ground floor, at the event itself. Admission is free for children under the age of 12 and visitors over 60.
About the Christmas bazaar
The Christmas bazaar happens thanks to the active participation of the international and diplomatic community in Bulgaria, the support of local and international business, and the help of hundreds of volunteers from different countries.
It aims to help fund the projects of the foundation to the International Women’s Club of Sofia. These projects include direct educational programs for deinstitutionalisation and social integration, support for people with disabilities, women, children and the elderly living in institutions and homes for the mentally and physically disabled.
About the Charity Bazaar 2013
This year’s edition of the bazaar will have 61 stands from 40 different countries and 8 stands from charity organisations, whose initiatives are supported by the International Women’s Club of Sofia, as well as stands with books, clothes, toys, playgrounds and workshops. Throughout the entire day there will be live music, dancing and performances from artists from various countries on the stage in Hall 4. The first visitors will be welcomed by the musicians from the Sofia Brass Orchestra.
Guest of honor at the 19th annual Charity bazaar will be singer Hilda Kazasyan.
