The Great Bus is visiting Colombia as a part of the worldwide campaign ‘This is GREAT Britain’. It will promote British experience in sustainability, transport, infrastructure, design and science and innovation as well as strengthening commercial and political ties between the UK and Colombia. It represents the very best of British design and engineering, but also the growing strength of the relationship between the UK and Colombia. Colombia is the second country in the world to receive the bus after the United States, and during the journey both the Lord Mayor of London and British Minister for Latin America Hugo Swire MP, will form part of the bus’ agenda.
The Great Bus will be officially launched in Colombia Tuesday 2 July by British Ambassador Lindsay Appleby in the city of Cartagena in the iconic Plaza de la Paz, opposite the Watch Tower at 4:00 p.m. The bus will be received by Acting Mayor Carlos Otero, World Games Director Rodrigo Otoya and sports star Chechy Baena, who will launch its tour of Colombia. Sport will be a constant theme throughout the bus’ voyage and it will promote the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through its promotion and support for the World Games, hosted by the city of Calí.
