On June 21, the British Embassy in Yerevan celebrated the Official Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. To mark the occasion, President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan called on Ambassador Judith Farnworth at her residence and met the British Embassy team. He also sent an official congratulatory message to HM Queen Elizabeth II, congratulating and extending good wishes to The Queen, the Royal Family and the British people.

Later that day, the British Embassy in Yerevan hosted the traditional Queen’s Birthday Party. Many honorable guests from the Armenian Government, National Assembly, business, the British community in Armenia, along with many of our other partners and friends joined us in celebration. Thanking the guests for joining the celebration of Her Majesty’s Birthday, Ambassador Judith Farnworth said in her speech:

The friendship between the UK and Armenia is long-established and dates back even before the first Armenian community settled in my home city of Manchester nearly 200 years ago. This year we are focusing on a more recent landmark - the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The UK has been and remains committed to supporting all in government, parliament and society to ensure that Armenia is a resilient and prosperous country, fulfilling its true potential.

The Ambassador emphasized that the British Embassy in Yerevan will continue to build on the strong relations between the two countries and nations in political, economic, commercial, defence, educational and cultural fields and, of course, sport, noting the personal contribution of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the captain of Armenia’s national football team, who has become an excellent “ambassador” following his move to Manchester United. The Ambassador thanked Henrikh for sending a congratulatory video message to mark the day.

The Queen’s Birthday Party is a great opportunity to showcase the British lifestyle, traditions and culture. At our party we served traditional British food and drinks, while the fantastic music performance by The Salamanca Band and The Bugles of The Rifles made this year’s celebrations very special.
