On 4 June, the British Embassy in Yerevan celebrated the Official Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

HM Ambassador Judith Farnworth and the British Embassy team were honoured to host the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian and Mrs Sarkissian at the Embassy. President Sarkissian congratulated Ambassador Farnworth and the Embassy team on the occasion, attaching great importance to the ongoing development of the Armenian-British relations.

Later that day, the British Embassy hosted the main Queen’s Birthday Party event. Many guests from the Government of Armenia, the National Assembly, the British community in Armenia, members of the diplomatic corps and friends of the UK joined us in celebration.

Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Armenia Judith Farnworth said in her welcoming speech:

The Queen’s Birthday Party is a very good opportunity to thank you all for working with us to strengthen British - Armenian relations and I hope you agree that we have achieved a lot this year. The British Embassy team has the energy and ambition to achieve even more whether in developing further commercial and people to people links or in supporting democratic and economic reforms in Armenia.

The Guest of Honour Tigran Avinyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia mentioned in his speech:

We know that the UK is a reliable partner and friend to Armenia. We highly appreciate the UK’s support for the development of Armenia. At the same time, we believe that the cooperation between the UK and Armenia - which has adopted a path to democracy, rule of law and the free and competitive economic system - should be further developed.

The Queen’s Birthday Party is the British Embassy’s main annual event, showcasing food, drinks and culture from across the UK. It has become a regular tradition that The Salamanca Band and Bugles of The Rifles of the UK Armed Forces performs at the event, entertaining guests with a fantastic repertoire of British and Armenian music.
