The UK’s world-renowned Red Arrows are coming to Abu Dhabi
UK’S Red Arrows will perform over Abu Dhabi Corniche on 24 November.
The UK’s world-renowned Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, will perform a dynamic display over Abu Dhabi Corniche at 16:00 on Thursday 24 November.
The display, which will be performed in UK-built aircraft and demonstrate the best of British innovation and industry, is expected to last 24 minutes and include exciting moves such as the “heart and spear” and “corkscrew”. The jets can move to within six feet of each other during the display and the pilots can experience up to 8G.
The F1 Fanzone at West Plaza on Abu Dhabi Corniche will be an excellent location to enjoy the roar of jet engines and the intricacy of the breath-taking manoeuvres.
The Red Arrows team, which includes nine display pilots and more than 100 support personnel and technicians, are in the UAE as part of their biggest overseas tour in a decade, which has seen visits to 17 countries. The tour is a tangible demonstration of the UK as a bold, outward-looking nation.
The arrival of the Red Arrows will follow hot on the heels of the visit earlier this month of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The presence of the Red Arrows will be another opportunity to celebrate the close ties between the UK and UAE.
Squadron Leader David Montenegro, Team Leader of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team and Red 1, said:
The Corniche, which is already hosting a myriad of Yasalam activities, will provide a wonderful, beautiful location to stage a Red Arrows display in Abu Dhabi and the whole team is excited to have the opportunity to perform again in the UAE, where we are always have a great response.
The event in Abu Dhabi is a tangible demonstration of the enduring, positive links between the UAE and the UK.
The timing of the Abu Dhabi display is also a perfect prelude to a weekend of motorsport and a celebration of engineering excellence, speed and teamwork – qualities shared between aviation and Grand Prix racing.
Indeed, the Red Arrows’ display of colourful, precision, formation aerobatics showcase British innovation and creativity.
