Three independent experts reappointed to ethics committee
Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group is pleased to announce the reappointment of 3 members of the committee for a period of 3 years, commencing in March 2024.
The members have cross cutting and varied experience and will continue to provide BFEG with knowledge and the Home Office with valuable independent advice on the ethical considerations in the use of biometrics, forensics, and complex data.
The reappointed members are:

Professor Thomas Edward Sorell, Professor of Politics and Philosophy at the University of Warwick

Professor Denise Syndercombe-Court, Professor of Forensic Genetics at Kings College London

Dr Peter Waggett, Director of Research at IBM
Professor Mark Watson-Gandy, Chair of the BFEG, said:
I am so delighted that Professor Tom Sorell, Professor Denise Syndercombe-Court and Dr Peter Waggett have agreed to serve for a further term and that the Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group will be able to continue to rely on their very considerable expertise.
