Tobias Ellwood statement on Libya
Minister for the Middle East and North Africa welcomes the action the Libyan Government is taking to counter Daesh.
Foreign Office minister, Tobias Ellwood, said:
The positive steps the Libyan people are taking to remove Daesh from their country are to be welcomed, including Prime Minister Serraj’s recent request for precision airstrikes from the United States of America in Sirte.
As elsewhere, Daesh and other terrorist organisations have brought misery and suffering to Libya, as seen again by a horrific suicide car bomb in Benghazi.
The UK remains at the forefront of international efforts to support the new Libyan Government of National Accord as they seek to restore stability and security.
