Passports, Visas & Travel Insurance
Please check your passport and visa details:
- you don’t need a visa to enter Norway
- your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay
- ensure that next of kin details are kept up to date
- take out travel insurance even if you’re only going for the day or a night, if you get into difficulties it could save you a lot of money
- if you’re visiting Norway you should get a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before leaving the UK
- the EHIC isn’t a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but it entitles you to state provided medical treatment that may become necessary during your trip
- if you lose your passport you will need to apply for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) to return home at the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Oslo
- the fee for an ETD is £95 (950 NOK) payable by cash or card
- we will also need one photo and a copy of your flight details to process your application
Getting to the stadium
Advice on getting to the stadium:
- Alfheim Stadion is located toward the east of the small city of Tromsø
- the stadium is less than a kilometre uphill walk from the city centre (15-20 minutes)
- if coming from the city centre by either car or foot, take the ‘Fredrik Langes Gate’ uphill, and, shortly after having crossed the ‘Vestregata’ (T-crossing), take the ‘Kongsbakken’ toward the right
- follow uphill and with a light curve to the left continue onto the ‘Kirkegårdsvegen’
- follow for about 500 metres and turn left onto the ‘Alfheimvegen’
- the stadium will lie shortly ahead on the right

- Tromsø Airport is a 10 minute Bus or Taxi ride from the city centre
At the match
Tips for at the match:
- we recommend that you arrive early for the match
- away supporters enter the stadium via one turnstile at the south end of the East Stand (Section D)
- you will be subject to a body search before entering the ground
- fireworks, flares, alcohol, poles for flags and any item that can be used as a weapon or thrown onto the pitch will not be allowed into the ground
- drinking alcohol at football matches is generally prohibited in Norway
- police and security staff have the authority to deny entry into the stadium to spectators under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- toilet and refreshment facilities for the away supporters will be located at the southeast corner of the stadium
- obey instructions from stadium security to avoid being removed from the stadium and detained by the police
- it is usual practice for the visiting fans to be held back for approximately 10-15 minutes after the match
General information
Some general tips and information:
- bring warm clothes and practical footwear to cope with sometimes icy roads and pavements
- the average temperatures in Tromsø in November are + 4 to - 4°C
- drinking in the street, non designated pub or restaurant areas is prohibited in Norway
- don’t get involved with drugs - the penalties are severe
- drugs and drink driving laws are stricter in Norway than in the UK
- possession of even small quantities can lead to heavy fines and/or imprisonment
