Turkmenistan Chevening dinner
British Ambassador Sanjay Wadvani hosted Chevening evening at his residence.
Following an established tradition, British Ambassador Sanjay Wadvani gave a pre-departure presentation to the outgoing 3 Turkmen Chevening finalists which was followed by a dinner at his residence on 08 September.
As a result of an intensive 8 month long selection process, 3 outstanding finalists have been awarded a prestigious Chevening scholarship to study at three renowned British Universities: Westminster University in London, the University of Glasgow in Scotland and Reading University.
Welcoming the guests to the presentation, the Ambassador recalled his previous experience of the programme and, in particular, the importance of Chevening in shaping the future of young leaders from around the world. He encouraged each of the outgoing scholars to gain maximum benefit from the programme both in terms of studying and getting to know the UK.
During the evening the Chevening scholarship recipients learned more about British life style, the education system and what to expect during a year-long adventure in the UK. Members of the Chevening alumni group from previous years were also invited to the evening to share their UK experiences and give advice to the outgoing scholars. Ambassador Sanjay Wadvani then presented this year’s scholarship recipients with specially prepared certificates. Scholars afterwards commented that they welcomed the chance to have an informal chat with previous scholars to learn about their experiences.
The British Embassy in Ashgabat is currently in the process of advertising the Chevening scholarship for 2016/17 academic year. We welcome all interested candidates to apply by 3 November 2015 programme.
