Turks and Caicos Islands Post Cabinet Statement 12 December 2018
Her Excellency the Acting Governor, Mrs Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles, chaired the 28th meeting of Cabinet on Wednesday, 12 December 2018, at the Government Office Compound on Grand Turk.
All Ministers were present except the Hon. Deputy Premier and the Hon. Minister of Tourism, Environment, Heritage and Gaming.
At this meeting Cabinet:

approved the revised Fiscal Strategic Policy Statement (FSPS) 2019/2023 for forwarding to the UK Government for approval

approved the reorganisation of the TCI Airports Authority budget for FY 2018/19 to reallocate funds within their capital budget and insurance pay outs to cover the Grand Turk and South Caicos airport fence works

advised Her Excellency the Acting Governor to approve, subject to further consultation and possible amendments being made, the draft TCI Companies (Economic Substance) Bill 2018 for forwarding to the House of Assembly for approval

approved the appointment of Mr Deveraux Malcolm as the Leader of the Opposition’s nominee to serve on the National Assessment Team for the TCI Country Poverty Assessment

approved the final Post Hurricanes Customs Exemption Policy for specified building materials furniture and appliances to run from 1 November 2018 - 30 April 2019

noted an information paper prepared by the National Health Insurance Board on the findings and recommendations of the Actuarial Review of the National Health Insurance Plan. A paper will be presented to Cabinet on ongoing and future measures to address the findings and recommendations in the paper

noted and endorsed plans by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture and Library Services to establish a Schools Inspectorate Unit to improve educational standards in TCI. Cabinet instructed the Ministry to consult further with the Human Resources Directorate and the Attorney General’s Chambers

advised Her Excellency the Acting Governor to approve the draft Status of Children Bill 2018 for forwarding to the House of Assembly for approval

approved Planning Application GT 4741 for the subdivision of Crown Land Parcel 10403/105 on Grand Turk to create two lots for residential purposes in accordance with Section 55 of the Physical Planning Ordinance 2014

approved the renewal, with revisions, of the Instrument of Appointment for Leeward Water Services Ltd to continue to provide water and sewerage services to designated areas of the Leeward Development Block on Providenciales in accordance with the Water and Sewerage Ordinance subject to amendments to the Ordinance being made

approved the implementation of the recommendations in the Dillon Consulting Storm Water Flood Risk Management Report presented by the Hon. Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning subject to funding being available

at the request of the Hon. Premier, received up-dates from the Hon. Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning and Her Excellency the Acting Governor on the new Long Bay Primary School project planning application process

at the request of the Hon. Premier, received an up-date from Her Excellency the Acting Governor on the banking contract for TCI

received a briefing by the Hon. Premier on her recent visit to South Caicos

noted recent approvals taken by Cabinet by round robin as follows – public service vehicle quota increase; waiver of import duties on a Christmas Tree and decorative materials imported by The Ridge And Breezy Brae community; change enquiry for a zero based budget review consultancy contract submitted by InterHealth Canada; Fiscal Strategic Policy Statement (FSPS) 2019-23.
