Press release

UK concerned at DPRK missile launch

FCO Minister Hugo Swire has called on the DPRK to comply with UN Security Council Resolutions after further provocations.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Following yesterday’s launch of two medium-range Nodong missiles into the Sea of Japan, Mr Swire has called on the country to work for peace on the Korean peninsula.

He said:

We are extremely concerned that the DPRK has fired two medium- range missiles towards the Sea of Japan. A missile launch of this kind is clearly designed to heighten tensions on the peninsula and is a breach of UN Security Council Resolutions. We, along with our allies, are closely monitoring this situation. The DPRK should comply with UN Security Council resolutions and cease all provocations.
