British Week 2014

British Week 2014 will include a series of events aimed at further strengthening relations between Guatemala and the United Kingdom.

From 27 February to 15 March, the Embassy will host a series of activities, many of which are open to the public, related to the UK priorities in Guatemala. Among others, these include a band contest, a family day at the Erick Barrondo Park, a chance to win an English scholarship, and a fashion show.

As is tradition, British Week will once again reach outside Guatemala City this year in the form of a street soccer tournament in Retalhuleu. This tournament seeks to promote a culture of peace through sport and the involvement of young students.

To mark the event, the British Ambassador in Guatemala, Sarah Dickson, said:

I am very pleased to launch today our British Week 2014. I hope that the events we have planned will provide Guatemalans with an opportunity to learn more about the UK: our great culture, music, fashion, language and creativity. There are many positive things in our bilateral relationship now. But we are not satisfied and we want them to continue to grow. I hope you will join us in the events we have planned
