Hugh Parnell works as an independent consultant in initial funding for companies based in Cambridge and the east of England, particularly those in the low-carbon technology and renewable energy sectors.

In the context of the ‘Knowledge is GREAT campaign’, Hugh’s programme of activities in Argentina included meetings with leading local entrepreneurs and businessmen concerned with new technologies, with whom he shared his experience as Director of ‘Cambridge Network’, an organisation that connects academics with businessmen who have similar projects in order to promote mutual co-operation.

Hugh also took part in a meeting with professors from Universidad Di Tella, where they discussed ways to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology from universities to companies. Then he addressed the same topic during a breakfast held at the British Ambassador’s Residence, where he used Cambridge as an example - a city that has become a high-tech innovation centre over the past few years.

During his visit, Hugh also took part in a round table on renewable energies with members of the Argentine Oil and Gas institute and the Clean Energy Congress. Later in the day he met members of the Environmental Business Chamber (CEMA) with whom he shared his experience as Head of Cambridge CleanTech, a similar organisation that comprises environmental technology companies in the UK.

Following his stay in Argentina, Hugh Parnell also visited Chile and Uruguay.
