British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg together with Shaun Kingsbury, CEO of the UK Green Investment Bank, introduced a round table event which took place on Monday 25 February with Dutch investors and developers of infrastructure projects in Amsterdam at the headquarters of APG in Amsterdam.
The roundtable discussions focused on meeting the UK’s investment challenges for the low carbon sector up to 2020 and beyond, and discussed opportunities for investment in the UK Green Economy. This is one of many events organised by the UK Trade and Investment team at the British Embassy in The Hague as part of the UK-NL Strategic Business Dialogue.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg talked about the level of British government support for facilitating investment into the UK’s Green Economy and the scale of the investment challenge saying that:-
“I am delighted to be here in the Netherlands to show my support for the Green Investment Bank. The British Government set out its ambition to be the greenest government ever and we have invested £3 billion so far in the Green Investment Bank.
“The Bank sets us firmly on course towards a green and growing economy. It is the world’s first national green development bank and is vital for securing investment in what is one of the greatest challenges of our age – reducing carbon emissions.”
In his overview of the UK Green Investment Bank, Shaun Kingsbury said:-
“It is a pleasure to be in Amsterdam today to meet with like-minded investors and stakeholders who have such a strong interest in sustainable infrastructure projects. With £3 billion of UK Government funding, the UK Green Investment Bank’s mission is to accelerate the UK’s transition to a green economy.”
