UK helps to advance awareness of Women’s Human Rights in Angola
The British Ambassador, John Dennis met local NGO, Rede Mulher (Women’s Network) to discuss their work on Women’s Human Rights in Angola
John Dennis (HMA) met Women’s Network Angola a local NGO focused on women’s human rights and equality issues to discuss their work in helping to raise awareness of the most pressing concerns facing women in Angola today. The Ambassador also signed a project contract with the “Women’s Network” that will assist their participation in New York for the 20th Anniversary of the “Beijing +20” world forum to take forward the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a commitment for advancing women’s rights. This contract of partnership is part of the social work that is being developed by the UK in Angola to raise awareness, promote, encourage about the women’s rights in Angola.
The Women’s Network Angola will establish a series of workshops for nearly 30 civil society organisation based in Angola to raise awareness of the Beijing declaration and platform and working closely with the Angolan Government will establish and assess the country’s compliancy and social development in women’s rights over the last 20 years and will be represented at the global forum to be held in New York in March 2015.
