Following the death of Ian Traynor after a short illness, Sir Ivan Rogers expressed his condolences:
I was very saddened to learn of the death of Ian Traynor.
Ian was a kind, insightful and really fine journalist. Over the years, I had the great pleasure to work with Ian. I fully admired his professionalism, dedication and the level of expertise that he brought to his job. For this he was not only respected by his fellow journalists, but also by those in the institutional and diplomatic community in Brussels.
I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends, and to his journalist colleagues in Brussels and in London.
