UK prescription veterinary medicine seized

Dermipred tablets seized at East Midlands Airport.

A package containing a UK authorised medicine was identified by a courier company based at a depot at East Midlands Airport. 

The package arrived from Bulgaria containing medicine destined for a residential address in Birmingham.  

The medicine was detained and subsequently seized by an inspector.

The following medicine was seized:  

  • 2 x boxes of Dermipred 10mg tablets for dogs

This product was intended for use in dogs and is classified as a Prescription Only Medicine – Veterinarian (POM-V).

This product must be prescribed by a vet who has the animal under their care. A veterinary medicine classified as POM-V may only be supplied by a veterinary surgeon or a pharmacist and must be supplied in accordance with a prescription from a veterinary surgeon.

The medicine was seized under Regulation 9 (Importation of authorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended).
