On 2 and 3 March a team from UKTI Norway organised the food and drink programme, the fourth of its kind, for 15 companies from the UK. British business representatives arrived in Oslo for retail visits to gain first hand experience and understanding of the Norwegian market, followed by a table top exhibition to meet trade contacts.

UK companies were briefed by HM Ambassador, the Director for UKTI Norway, an importing company, a Norwegian customs officer and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. They also participated in a retail tour which offered an insight into local conditions for competitor products, price points, existing product choice and the spectrum of supermarkets and delis.

The products showcased by British suppliers ranged from olive oils and flavoured sea salts to Welsh cheese and organic healthy snacks for children. The trade exhibition session was arranged as an ‘open house’ event during which visitors representing more than 25 Norwegian companies were introduced to British businesses, including importers, distributors, press, chefs and food bloggers.

The event formed part of the UK’s Grown in Britain campaign.
