UK-South Africa Joint Scientific Seminar Scheme kicked off with workshop to strengthen research collaboration between the two countries.
The UK-South Africa Joint Scientific Seminar Scheme kicked off with a workshop to strengthen research collaboration between both countries. The Scheme was agreed in September 2013 between David Willetts (United Kingdom Minister for Universities and Science) and Derek Hanekom (South African Minister of Science and Technology) at the South Africa-United Kingdom Bilateral Forum held in Cape Town in September 2013
The workshop, held in Cape Town in February, explored research strengths of each country, and identified themes and areas of collaborative research. Present were representatives from the UK’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, Research Councils UK, and the Royal Society; as well as South African counterparts from the Department of Science and Technology, the National Research Foundation and academia.
More details on the workshop are available in the attached Summary Report.
