Dr Alexandre Strapasson, an expert from Imperial College London, visited Quito from 11-13 November to launch the Ecuador Calculator 2050. This is a tool to model future energy scenarios and to explore different ways of reducing carbon emissions. The launch took place during a renewable energy workshop organised by the Institute of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies (INER), who supported the development of the local Calculator. Dr Strapasson worked with the team at the UK Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to develop the 2050 Global Calculator. Climate change is an urgent challenge for all, and by supporting this project, the UK hopes to stimulate discussion about how we can build a more sustainable future together.
