Background
Bangladesh is a developing country with a per capita GDP of approximately US$800 per annum. The aim of Bangladesh is to become a middle income country by 2021. The Bangladesh perspective plan outlines strategies for development in all sectors.
A construction boom started in the country after 1990 owing to the necessity for industrial buildings, offices, roads, bridges and other types of infrastructure in the rapidly expanding economy. High-rise buildings with sophisticated materials, components and installations have also become common as the process of industrialisation and urbanisation have proceeded at a fast pace.
