Universal Credit available across Essex in latest rollout

Universal Credit is now available in almost 600 jobcentres across the country as Essex becomes the latest county to complete the rollout of the new benefit to single jobseekers.

Well over a quarter of a million people have now made a claim to Universal Credit with the latest figures showing almost 6,800 new claims are made every week.

The new system is designed to ensure people will always be better off in work and the latest statistics prove that people are finding work faster and earning more.

People claiming Universal Credit are significantly more likely to move find employment than those on Jobseeker’s Allowance and for the first time ever, we are supporting claimants to earn more and progress in their careers.

Today, single jobseekers will be able to claim Universal Credit in:

  • Hertford
  • Stevenage
  • Loughton
  • Harlow
  • Rayleigh
  • Hanley
  • Longton
  • Guiseley
  • Morley
  • Pudsey
  • Seacroft
  • Leeds Eastgate
  • Leeds Southern House
  • Leeds Park Place
