Uzbek British Trade and Industry Council to meet in Tashkent
The 23rd session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council will take place in Tashkent on 17 November 2016.
The 23rd session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council will take place at the International Business Centre in Tashkent on 17 November 2016.
The upcoming UBTIC session will bring representatives of the Government of Uzbekistan and British companies together to give both sides an opportunity to learn more about the business opportunities available in both countries.
Plenary session
The plenary session will be chaired by the British and Uzbek Co-Chairs of UBTIC - His Excellency Mr Elyor Ganiev, the Minister for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan and Dame Barbara Hay DCMG LVO MBE. During the plenary session it is expected that the sides will talk about socio-economic developments in both countries, practical measures for development of trade and investment between the UK and Uzbekistan, cooperation in the areas of Clean Development Mechanism, science, education and tourism.
Private sector sessions
British companies will also have the opportunity to meet a wide range of Uzbek private sector representatives to exchange information about business capabilities and to build a platform for potential future cooperation.
The meetings will be taking place with representatives and members of the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan and Association of International Business and Technologies. Interested companies will also have a chance to visit MiningWorld Uzbekistan, Machinery Central Asia and TransUzbekistan exhibitions which will be taking place in Tashkent at the same time.
Background
UBTIC is a trade promotion body which:
- was established under a bilateral agreement in 1994
- supports and assists UK businesses currently operating in Uzbekistan, or wishing to invest in the country
- offers an annual forum for promoting the development of trade and investment relations between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom
- alternates between Tashkent and London
- is jointly chaired by representatives of the 2 sides.
