Response to British media reports on the use of vaccine funding in Sierra Leone

Responding to a report in The Times newspaper investigating the alleged misuse of funds for a GAVI Alliance vaccine programme by Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health, a Department for International Development spokesperson said:
We continue to follow the GAVI investigation closely although no DFID money is provided directly to Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health. A separate DFID programme provides funding for health worker salaries which cannot be used for any other purpose.
