VE Day Beacons

Over 200 beacons will be lit on Friday 8 May to mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The 70th anniversary of VE Day will see beacons lit throughout the United Kingdom. At the going down of the sun on the 8 May the first beacon will be lit (at a location to be announced) followed by a chain of over 100 beacons across the UK.
