Venturefest Scotland: business and investors gather for growth

Innovation event joins business, innovators and investors in effort to strengthen local ties and boost economic growth in Scotland.

Hundreds of business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and investors will gather next month for this year’s Venturefest Scotland event.

Venturefest Scotland 2016, which takes place on 1 September 2016 at the Glasgow Science Centre, is a free one-day event sponsored by Innovate UK and the Knowledge Transfer Network that aims to strenghen local innovation networks.

Among the key themes for the day will be:

  • understanding digital trends and transforming business through digital
  • how to collaborate and innovate for growth
  • identifying innovative opportunities and maximising opportunities within a supply chain
  • funding opportunities and pitching to customers, partners and funders

Scottish cabinet secretary makes keynote speech

Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Keith Brown MSP will give one of the keynote speeches of the day, and he will be joined for that session by Innovate UK chief development officer Kevin Baughan.

The Knowledge Transfer Network will lead sessions on transforming business through digital innovation and on developing a value proposition to grow a business.

Managing director of operations at Scottish Enterprise Adrian Gillespie will give another keynote speech. There is a Google-led session on making your business more visible, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise will lead a session on taking disruptive innovation to the third sector.

Delegates have chance to meet experts

Delegates to Venturefest Scotland will also have the opportunity to book one-on-one sessions with experts in a range of fields from product design to intellectual property and raising finance.

Venturefest Scotland is one of a series of Venturefest events supported by Innovate UK that take place across the country.
