British Royal Navy frigate HMS Lancaster visited Algiers from 6 to 8 December. Whilst in Algiers the ship’s crew undertook a range of specialist training and exercising with the Algerian Navy. The ship also hosted Defence Security Industry Day, organised by United Kingdom Trade & Investment Defence and Security Organisation. British defence companies have an outstanding international reputation and will be exploring how Britain’s world class defence and security capabilities can benefit Algeria.
HMS Lancaster sailed from Portsmouth, UK, in March 2015 and has spent nine months maintaining the Royal Naval presence in the Atlantic and providing protection and reassurance to British interests there. During such tasks, Royal Navy ships call at ports along the route to interact with Navies of our partners, foster relationships and to improve Maritime Security and Defence Engagement. During this deployment, HMS Lancaster has sailed in excess of 27,000 nautical miles and travelled to 4 continents.
