Returners Programme

Statement from Alan Colston, the VOA’s Chief Valuer

At the VOA, surveying is at the heart of what we do. As Chief Valuer and Head of the Surveying Profession in the VOA, I am responsible for ensuring we adhere to the highest professional and valuation standards.

Our valuation expertise is vitally important to our customers, our people and our delivery partners, including those in central and local government. Developing our surveying profession with talented people is fundamental to our business.

With us, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the best surveyors in the country who will support you and advise you as you work your way through the Returners Programme. The breadth and range of surveying work we do is unsurpassed and will allow you to get an excellent understanding of all aspects of the profession.

If you choose to join us, you will receive:

  • a comprehensive induction and suite of support to help re-introduce you back into the workplace
  • a supportive line manager, an initial period of shadowing an experienced surveyor, a buddy in your team and a mentor from the business
  • excellent training and support; you will be part of a network of VOA Returners and you’ll have the opportunity to attend group coaching sessions to refresh your IT skills and rebuild your confidence and resilience

I look forward to welcoming you to the VOA.

Clare Johnson, Deputy Head of Profession, VOA

I’m really excited about the launch of the VOA returners programme, which is open to Chartered Surveyors currently on a career break or working outside the property profession.

This programme offers us the opportunity to access a pool of experienced and motivated individuals who have taken an extended career break and are now keen to get back to their profession.

The role requires previous property valuation experience and candidates should be MRICS/FRICS in valuation, commercial real estate or related pathways.

We invite applications from external candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Friday 27 March 2020.
