Wall repairs for A595 at Parton in Cumbria

Work to repair a retaining wall alongside the A595 at Parton near Whitehaven in Cumbria started yesterday (Monday 11 August).

The £60,000 Highways Agency routine maintenance project involves repairing and repointing sections of the wall around the junction with Rosehill.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said:

This is a single carriageway section of the A595 and we will have to use temporary traffic signals to manage traffic during the work – although they will be removed during peak times and also staffed to avoid drivers queuing needlessly.

All work will take place between Monday and Friday and only between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day.

The work will be completed by the end of the month with no work taking place at all between Thursday 21 August and Tuesday 26 August when the Highways Agency will be suspending roadworks across the country to help people with bank holiday journeys.
