Welcome back for Guatemalan Chevening Scholars
The Ambassador Nick Whittingham welcomed back Guatemalan Chevening Scholars who successfully completed their Masters programme at UK universities.
Eight Guatemalan scholars, five from the 2021-22 academic year and three from the 2020-21 cohort, studied a Masters’ degree at a range of UK universities.
The Embassy congratulated the awardees on the successful completion of their studies and for being worthy ambassadors for Guatemala during their time in the UK.
The Chevening award is the UK government’s global scholarship programme offered by the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office in collaboration with partner organisations. Since 1983, Chevening has helped to build bridges with more than 160 different countries and territories, supporting the education and development of future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers across the world.
The returning scholars are:

- Ana María Guerra Paredes, Innovation, Entrepreneurship Management at Imperial College London
- María Isabel Amorín Cabrera, Material Chemistry at University of Edinburgh
- Ana Elizabeth Barrientos Peña, Statistics at University of Lancaster
- Virginia María Nuñez Aguirre, MSc Analytical Chemistry at Birkbeck, University of London
- María Fernanda de Jesús Galán Maldonado, Public Administration and Public Policy at University of York
- Pablo José Menéndez Pérez, Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure at Imperial College London
- Maria Anaisabel Galindo Flores, Development Administration and Planning at University College London
Chevening has promoted economic development and better business environments worldwide by funding scholars who have gone on to build companies, become directors, and hold senior positions in global organisations.
