Welsh Secretary awards grower of Downing Street Christmas tree
Secretary of State for Wales awards UK business whose Christmas tree will now appear inside Number 10, Downing St.

On Wednesday 26 October, Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns attended the British Christmas Tree Growing Association (BCTGA) competition and open day at Poundfflad Farm in Three Crosses, Swansea.
Over 50 UK grown Christmas trees made up the event all competing for a place at Downing Street.
During his visit, the Welsh Secretary presented an award to Dartmoor Trees whose Christmas tree has been selected to appear inside the Pillared Room at Number 10.
The award winning tree will be cut and delivered to Downing Street where it will stand tall dressed in glistening lights and festive decoration.

It is fantastic news that a British Christmas tree will be standing inside Number 10 again this year.
Growing Christmas trees is a big industry in the UK with producers working throughout the year. Around 70 million Christmas trees are growing in Britain at any one time and is worth around £250m to the UK economy.
It was great to see all corners of the UK represented at the competition and working together in the lead up to their busiest period.
