Welsh Secretary reinforces trade and investment links with Hong Kong
UK Secretary of State for Wales David Jones paid a two-day visit in late March to Hong Kong.
UK Secretary of State for Wales David Jones visited Hong Kong on 22-23 March to promote investment opportunities in Wales, and the wider UK, after visiting Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam. His Asian visit supported the ‘GREAT’ Britain campaign, promoted the UK as ‘open for business’, built strategic investment partnerships and encouraged Asian students to study in the UK.
During his stay in Hong Kong, Mr Jones met local business leaders and key inward investors as well as high education sector to promote trade, investment and education links between Wales and Hong Kong. In addition, he attended an opening ceremony of Hong Kong Rugby Sevens to promote Welsh-Hong Kong sporting and cultural links, and visited GREAT Food Hall and Harvey Nichols to promote Welsh food and the wider UK retail exports.
