Why the Horn of Africa matters to the UK
Foreign Secretary William Hague said that it is right both morally and in the national interest to work with the Horn of Africa.
In his latest video blog the Foreign Secretary said that there is great economic opportunity in Africa if countries are able to develop their infrastructure and develop more open political systems and independent judiciaries. “Those are things that Britain must work with those African nations to achieve.”
On 7 July the Disaster Emergency Committee launched an appeal for more than 10 million people in East Africa who are suffering from the area’s worst drought in half a century.
