On Wednesday 13 March, the Women and Equalities Ministerial Team held a reception at Number 11 on the theme of women and economic growth.

The reception formed part of the ministerial International Women’s Day activities. Attendees came from a wide range of sectors including: enterprise, large corporate companies, sports, culture, media and the arts as well as women who have just set up their own business.

The event was opened by Maria Miller who spoke about the success of women in sport during the Olympics and the leadership of women in culture and the arts, but she also said that female representation at senior levels remains stubbornly low.

Ms Miller also spoke about the importance of building relationships and working together to achieve success. The event provided those attending with an opportunity to network.
