The Secretary of State Michael Gove has announced the appointment of an independent Improvement Board to provide oversight and scrutiny at Medway Secure Training Centre.

In response to the announcement, Lin Hinnigan, YJB Chief Executive, said:

“The safety of young people is of paramount importance to the YJB. We will be working closely with the Improvement Board appointed by the Secretary of State. We are confident it will provide the independent oversight required to ensure the organisations working with children and young people in secure training centres are meeting appropriate safeguarding standards.”
