Your ideas about your freedom

We’re still looking for your ideas on what civil liberty laws to keep and which ones to throw away.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

More than 9,000 ideas and almost 52,000 comments have been sent to the Your Freedom website so far, but if you  haven’t commented yet we still want to hear from you.

Launched on 1 July, the site invites the British public to suggest how the government can restore liberties that have been lost, including identifying unnecessary laws that should be repealed, and business regulations that could be stripped away.

People care about how they’re governed

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said that the success of the website shows that people are interested in the way they are governed. He said, ‘It’s been a really exciting new way of doing things.

‘I just want to thank everyone who has posted comments, suggestions, ideas, polemic, and criticism, on the Your Freedom website.

‘Some of the ideas are ideas we’re looking at very, very actively, straight away.’
