Personal information charter

The Government Data Quality Hub's personal information charter tells you about how and why we use your personal information.

This charter (or privacy notice) explains what type of personal data we collect, how we use it, why and what for. As we are part of the Office for National Statistics, please see ONS’s privacy information for stakeholders for contact details of the organisation and its data protection officer, the legal basis for processing your data, your rights as a data subject and how to make a complaint.

Type of personal data we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details, such as email addresses and phone numbers)
  • employment information (for example organisation or department, profession, and role or technical background)

How we get personal data and why we have it

Most of the personal data we process is provided to us either directly by you by email or through event-organising or survey platforms, such as Eventbrite and SmartSurvey, for one of the following reasons:

  • to inform you of any events, articles, or publications by the Government Data Quality Hub (DQHub)
  • to collect feedback on our work with you

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • spread knowledge on data quality and DQHub activities
  • understand the impact of our work,
  • learn what we can do better, and how

We will not share this information with any other third party without your expressed consent.

For information on how data collection platforms use your data, you can read Eventbrite’s privacy policy, and Survey Monkey’s privacy policy.

How we store your personal data

We keep personal identifiers and employment information data for 18 months. We will then dispose your information by deleting securely from our systems.
