How to contact the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) press office.

HM Revenue and Customs’ (HMRC) press office deals with media enquiries relating to all areas of the department’s work. It welcomes enquiries from all journalists, including national, regional, trade, print, broadcast and online.

We aim to provide a helpful service to journalists and reply to all media enquiries within agreed deadlines.

We are unable to help customers with their personal tax affairs.

If you have been asked to use this page to check that you’re being called by a legitimate HMRC officer, please hang up the call immediately as it is a scam. Please report this by contacting us using the Report suspicious HMRC emails, text messages and phone calls page on GOV.UK

If you are a journalist with a press enquiry or request, you should call one of our press officers (numbers below) or email newsdesk@hmrc.gov.uk.

Press officers are bound by the rules of confidentiality and are expressly forbidden - in common with all HMRC staff - from discussing details of individual customers.

Out of hours

We offer a 24-hour service, with a duty press officer on call to help with urgent enquiries out of hours. Our normal office hours are Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm.

If you need to contact the press office between 6pm and 9am, or at the weekend and Bank Holidays, contact our duty press officer on 03000 538 775.
