About us

NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is an arm’s length body of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). It provides critical central services to support the priorities of the NHS, government, and local health economies.

NHSBSA manages around £39 billion of NHS spend annually providing these services nationally and at scale.

The services are used by NHS organisations, NHS contractors, patients, and the public. They are grouped into 3 operational areas:

  • platforms and services that support the NHS workforce
  • services that support essential primary care functions
  • services direct to the public to enable citizens to gain access to the healthcare and help with health costs to which they are entitled
