About our services
It takes 8 to 10 weeks to process and register LPA applications.
Service status as of 21 March 2025
Our Birmingham office has reopened today after being closed due to a power cut.
The closure resulted in delays to receiving and dispatching post. Those services have now resumed, and we are working to prioritise urgent items.
Customers who have sent in a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) for registration since Wednesday 12 March continue to be asked to allow extra time for postal tracking to be updated before contacting OPG for an update.
Customers who are waiting to receive a registered LPA are advised it takes 8-10 weeks to register an LPA and are asked to wait an additional 7-10 working days before contacting OPG for an update.
If you have sent in an urgent safeguarding concern via the post since Wednesday 12 March, please call our contact centre on 0300 456 0300 or email customerservices@publicguardian.gov.uk with the information.
