Who we are

We employ over 100 staff who work across the country. We are made up of 7 services and functions.

Services

Risk, Threat and Prevention

We support government departments and public bodies in further understanding their fraud risks and to design and implement fraud controls.

Data Analytics Service

Our Data Analytics Service  provides best-in-class tools to support public bodies to find and prevent fraud. This includes the National Fraud Initiative (NFI), Single Network Analytics Platform (SNAP) and the centre of the Counter Fraud Function’s data sharing pilots programme.

Enforcement and Intelligence Unit

We have launched a pilot enforcement unit to take action on cases of fraud in the public sector. This unit works collaboratively with government departments and public bodies to investigate allegations of fraud and recover fraud losses.

Functions

Performance, Assurance and Evidence

We increase understanding of the extent of fraud and error loss and oversee the performance of departments and public bodies. We do this through building the evidence base for fraud and error in central government and through reviewing public bodies’ compliance against the Government Functional Standard GovS 013: Counter Fraud.

Practice, Standards and Capability

We bring together expertise from across the public sector and beyond to define and promote good practice, set professional standards, and develop capability through the Government Counter Fraud Profession.

Policy

We provide expert advice and information to ministers, government departments, and public bodies. We develop cross government policy to modernise the counter fraud response and bring together international partners to share leading practices through the International Public Sector Fraud Forum.
