About us
We work across government and beyond to identify and tackle racial and ethnic inequalities – through legislation, policy and data.
Our top priorities are to develop and deliver the draft Equality (Race and Disability) Bill and wider cross-government actions to address race and ethnic inequalities.
We also collect, analyse and publish government data on the experiences of people from different ethnic backgrounds on Ethnicity facts and figures – an open and transparent source of data on race and ethnicity.
Our work
We work with organisations inside and outside government to understand and tackle racial and ethnic inequalities.
Our top priorities are to develop and deliver the draft Equality (Race and Disability) Bill and wider cross-government actions to address race and ethnic inequalities.
We run the Ethnicity facts and figures website – an open and transparent source of data on race and ethnicity. Topics include crime, education, health and population. All data is analysed by ethnicity, often combined with other factors like age, geography, socio-economic background and gender. We use this data to help government departments develop and monitor policies to reduce inequalities.
We also provide best practice guidance to help departments write about and present data in a clear and consistent way.
