Our governance

The Committee

The Committee is made up of:

  • An independent chair.
  • 4 independent members appointed by the Prime Minister following open competition in accordance with the Government’s Governance Code.
  • Political members appointed by the Prime Minister on the recommendation of the leaders of the three largest political parties in the House of Commons, Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat. (The incumbent SNP Member joined the Committee prior to the 2024 general election and the subsequent changes to the make up of the House of Commons.)
