About us
The Trade Remedies Investigations Directorate (TRID) of the Department for International Trade investigates whether new trade remedies are needed to prevent injury to UK industries caused by unfair trading practices and unforeseen surges in imports. These remedies usually take the form of additional duties on those imports. Our work helps to create a level playing-field for UK industries. You can apply for a new trade remedies investigation and view our active cases and reviews on our online platform the Trade Remedies Service.
As part of the work needed to create a UK-specific trade remedies system outside the European Union, we are also carrying out transition reviews into existing EU trade remedy measures which affect UK industries. Our reviews will test if the measures in place are right for the UK or what changes might be needed.
Once the appropriate legislation is passed, TRID will become an arm’s length body – the Trade Remedies Authority.
