British Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa
Adam Bye OBE
Biography
Adam Bye was appointed Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa in September 2020.
Adam has served in a number of diplomatic roles. These include Deputy Director in Americas Directorate covering relations with the US, Canada and Caribbean; Deputy Head of News and Digital helping oversee the then FCO’s 24 hour press and digital operation; Deputy Balkans Co-ordinator supporting UK efforts to build stability in that region; and covering Iran and Iraq at the UK Mission to the UN in New York. Adam also worked as Deputy Director Digital helping oversee digital transformation and communications at the Department of Health.
In 2003 Adam was awarded an OBE by HM The Queen for services to British foreign policy.
