Adriènne Kelbie
Biography
Adriènne Kelbie CBE is the independent Chair of Nuclear Waste Services (NWS). She brings sector experience from her role as Chief Executive of the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the UK’s nuclear safety regulator where she led transformation into an open, inclusive and multiple-award winning organisation. She was also Patron of Women in Nuclear for 2 terms. Today, she works with a portfolio of Board clients as a Non-Executive Director, executive coach, and consultant.
Her diverse experience in earlier roles spans the charitable, public, and private sector. While leading the Disclosure and Barring Service, she became known for modernising the criminal records system, bringing together the previous Criminal Records Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authority.
Adriènne also helped establish the charitable good cause arm of the National Lottery, overseeing UK and international funding operations for disadvantaged groups, before moving to help lead Hull City Council through a period of budget cuts and overhaul of structure, capability, and services. She also served as a Trustee for CareTech Charitable Foundation, which supports care sector workers and funds innovative care projects in the UK and overseas.
In 2020, she was awarded a CBE, for services to inclusion and the nuclear industry. An avid learner, she has also been awarded 5 professional fellowships in Energy, Nuclear, Management, Leadership and HR, and is qualified in a range of psychometrics.
