Aftab Chughtai MBE
Biography
Aftab is a Commissioner for the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities.
Aftab Chughtai MBE is an accomplished business professional and respected community leader with more than 30 years of experience in the private and public sectors.
Owning and running a department store in East Birmingham, Chughtai has been a Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce member for over 20 years and is an executive committee member of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce.
With cross-sector experience Chughtai is Chair of the West Midlands Police Independent Advisory Group, Birmingham Muslim Burial Council and is a trustee of the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust.
In 2017 he was appointed to the Grenfell taskforce and has been overseeing and supporting the local council’s long-term recovery plan in the aftermath of the fire.
He received an MBE in 2016 in recognition of his services to business and community relations in Birmingham.
