Alexander MacGill

Biography
Alexander ‘Mac’ MacGill joined the CNPA Board in November 2024 as a nuclear industry representative.
Mac is currently NRS Dounreay’s Environmental, Health & Safety, Security and Quality (EHSSQ) Director having previously joined the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in 2018 as Dounreay’s Security and Resilience Director and carrying additional responsibilities such as Deputy Managing Director during his tenure.
Prior to this, he spent 3 years as the principal consultant and director of an executive management consultancy, having enjoyed a diverse 24 year military career spanning highly demanding command, leadership and management appointments of military engineering, defence procurement, military training and war fighting / peace keeping operations.
Mac brings a wealth of experience to the CNPA Board from several very different military staff and operational environments. He has extensive experience of high-risk safety and security, major change and digital transformation programmes, as well as a strong background in providing tactical leadership and improving operational performance.
Mac holds a Bachelor of Engineering Technology Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng Hons) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership (FiL).
